As opposed to having affiliates, allies, and link exchanges, Nevermore Designs instead goes about linking to other sites in two different ways: Nevermore Network and Sibling Sites. Most any site can join the Nevermore Network, which is a simple button rotation. Becoming a sibling site, though, is more difficult.
A sibling site is basically an ally of Nevermore Designs, with one large difference: A sibling site must be a design site. No exceptions. Also, because some sites do not use the category of sibling site, or reserve that spot for an actual sibling or über-close friend, they may choose to list Nevermore Designs as an affiliate. Their site, their choice!

And why the lack of rules/guidelines/etc.? Because I'd rather do something as important as this on an individual basis. Also, if you must know, most affiliates of my other sites end up being decided on an individual basis, which is the way it should be; even "rules" end up as guidelines.
